    FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT

    One of the more common employment arrangements is full-time permanent employment. This includes the standard 35 to 40 hours a week schedule that is normal for many professions and job sectors. Payment is usually paid on either a weekly or a bi-weekly basis and there are often employee benefits such as health insurance, sick days, paid holidays off, and paid vacation given on an annual basis. This type of employment is based either on an hourly wage or on an established salary depending upon the industry or business.

    This is the basic concept to ongoing full-time employment. As a form of employment, it is essentially a voluntary, non-exclusive contract for continuous employment with a business or company. Full-time employment is generally one of the most sought after forms of employment for the simple reason that it pays more than part-time or temporary work does, generally speaking.

    Full-time employment has been an ideal of the job market for decades and the majority of the population still strives to find the perfect 40 hours a week, daytime job that pays decently and offers some good benefits. Yet the climate of regular employment does not always oblige such ideals.

    Twenty-five years ago finding a job like this may have been a legitimate possibility for the majority of people that made up the employment pool, but the demands of new technologies and the economy has established more dubious hours for full-time work schedules, particularly in the industrial and service industries.

    While in the past, full-time employment was a staple of stability in many career fields. Today, the necessity of full-time permanent employment is often cast aside as companies continue to fluctuate and evolve to stay relevant with the changes in the marketplace. Certainly, as with all of the other forms of employment, full-time jobs are being redefined in the light of the vast numbers of individuals and businesses working on the internet.

    The Full-Time Game

    In many sectors, the pursuit for the top full-time jobs has become a contest to find secure the best employment package, complete with great hours and great benefits. Employers, too, have joined this "competition" in order to find the employees they desperately need to fill positions. Promotion of great benefits packages and other advantages has become the hallmark of many businesses and factories that have definite demands for their products and services but often require those dubious hours mentioned earlier.

    By offering attractive benefits and possibilities for pay upgrades and other advancements over time is often the only way some of the employers can draw applicants. At the same, time other businesses where full-time employment is offered face none of the challenges that factory management does. When you reach the corporate executive level, you are entering an entirely new world. Full-time employment is almost always salaried and the perks and benefits are often beyond imagining. At the professional level, tactics like recruitment and referral are used to entire competent professionals from employment pool to move from one business to another. It is still the same game: the goal of businesses at every level and across every industry is to obtain an employee base that will stand with them in the long term.

    The Change in work climate

    At the same time, the overall picture of the market for full-time employment continues to be influenced and affected by other forms of employment that can phase out permanent positions and replace them with part-time, temporary, or even contract workers who move on after the job is done. Freelancers and outsourcing agencies are stepping to fill these transitory positions and effectively eliminating the costs associated with keeping a permanent employee and being required to provide the wages and benefits on a regular basis.

    The level of effects will often vary from one sector to another depending upon current trends within those job markets. All of this activity makes for a complex employment situation for those hunting for lucrative full-time positions. Part-time employment, on the other hand, presents a slightly different picture when considered closely.
