I am so confused. i received an email from somone from the ALFAC comp. they checduled and interview with me. Is becoming and account executive require you to have your insurance liscense and do you work from home?
i don't want to waste my time at an interview today if i am going to be cold calling sales from my home. I am not sure what to do! Is this type of job commisson based or hourly paid? Can someone help me???? thank you! I recieved an email todayand it said: As an Account Executive (AE), you have the ability to work from your own home office; however we do try to match you up with businesses in your immediate area. We are strictly BTB which means regular business hours. Aflac as a whole works with over 550,000+ companies and it is the responsibility of an AE to assist their District Coordinator in maintaining local account relationships; along with educating and presenting our programs to new business owners. Since it cost the business owner nothing to implement, plus they receive a tax break, it is a win-win for all. For those qualified candidates, we do have a Management Leadership Training Program (MLT). The MLT program is designed to prepare AE’s for the next level in their career as a District Coordinator. Hmph. i get what he means about moving up. i just am unclear about what the starting regulations and duties are?!?!?!?! |

Did they schedule you for an interview without speaking to you at first? There are several insurance companies doing this and it is unethical. They may want you to pay for your training and licensing. I'm pretty sure it is a lot of prospecting on your part for new clients. I would talk to someone on the phone first and get a clear idea as to what it entails before waisting your time.

Hi. I actually tried working for AFLAC. Let me start by saying that they are a great company with great products.
Yes, you do need to get your insurance license. You have to take a 52 hour course and then take state exam for the license. (california) To me, it was a hard job to do. If you need money right now, it is kind of a tough job to get into. I thought it was hard because you do have to do cold calling or as they call it, corporate dropping. Meaning, you will be going business to business trying to get people to give you an appointment to go over the products. Sometimes you have to go back to the company 3 and 4 times before they even give you an appointment. I couldn't do it. I hated going to business to business. You have to have a tough skin. Be ready for rejection and always be on your A game. You run into a lot of campany's that don't even offer health insurance to their employees. If you can handle all of that, it is a great job. They offer shares of their stock after 12 months and they always have contests to keep your enthusiam up. There are great people to work with and a lot of training. But it is 100% commission. However, if they see that you are working hard, some of the people that have been there longer will take you on some appointments with them to sign up new business, but you are still going to have to do a lot of pounding the pavement. I hope this was helpful. |
