Can the beneficiary of a nonspousal inherited ira transfer from acurrent custodian to a successor custodian without causing a taxable event?

It can be rolled over, if that's what you are asking.

Be careful or you may cause a taxable event. There is a great deal of confusion regarding nonspousal inherited IRAs, as the rules recently changed.

You cannot treat the IRA as your own. You cannot make contributions to the IRA. You cannot roll over any amounts into or out of the IRA.

However, you can make a trustee-to-trustee transfer as long as the IRA into which the funds are transferred is set up and maintained in the name of the deceased IRA owner with you as beneficiary.

Get yourself a good tax advisor and consult them before entering into a transaction.
